Details Make A Difference
I had a lovely lunch by the pool yesterday with my good friend consultant Alice Hendry. I have always admired her weddings. They take perfection to a new level and I finally figured out why.
Details. That is the answer in one word.
There are people that can see the big picture and those that focus on the minutiae. Alice is that rare character that can see both.
We were discussing a wedding from this spring that I am using for an upcoming article. What I needed was some idea of how she had advanced the theme the bride had settled on. WOW, was I blown away. It was like peeling an onion. Each layer built on the next, being careful never to stray from the original touchstone of the theme.
Planning a wedding that is all white can be a nightmare. It is easy to end up with a 'blizzard' where all the details disapear. Not this one. It was a richly textured symphony with each layer blending to perfection.
Alice used the period of La Belle Epoque as her touchstone. Everything, and I do mean everything touched back to the traditional formality of that bygone era. Details like the tradional style of escort card, the damask linens, the couture calligraphy and the traditional music all came together seamlessly. Every detail down to timing the dinner so the guest were seated at dusk was planned, not allow to just happen.
This is not an easy accomplishment. It takes a pro to keep that many details in focus. It takes someone that is completely dedicated to your vision. If you are trying to achieve the kind of outcome that leaves your guests in awe ( in the good way), hire a pro to keep you focused. It will just make your life so much easier.
